Free Falling

In the spirit of Valentine’s, at WitnessLA.org we’re featuring the stories and testimonies on what God has shown Christians about singleness, relationships, and love all the days leading up to Feb. 14th.  Today, our Voice Kytia shares how the relationship between God and man is the greatest love story she’s come to know.

When most people think of Valentine’s Day, they think of holding hands with their somebody or avoiding the public due to the fact they don’t have a somebody. However, the greatest love story I’ve ever known is the relationship between God and man. A great thing happened to me when I was single, living in Hawaii, and “oh-so-not” looking for romance. I experienced the love of God and of friendship which both fill a void that causes many hearts to ache. The following is a myspace blog post I wrote over three years ago about that very thing, and it is as relevant now as it was on July 7th, 2008. To give you some backstory, I’ll let you in on a little tradition that happens in Hawaii for people of all ages. At Waimea Bay on the North Shore of Oahu, there is a VERY massive rock that beach goers take turns climbing and leaping from all day and this was my chance to do the same. It didn’t go quite as planned, but it is a very memorable moment in my walk with God nonetheless.

A Hole Is Where the Heart Is

Our friend, Kytia, parallels everyday circumstances, such as repairing a leak in the ceiling, to lessons that God teaches us, like healing our greatest pains from the inside out.  Kytia’s testimony reminds us that God can use times of great sadness, confusion and struggle to break open our hearts and bring healing.

Recently, my husband and I had our first encounter with serious repairs to our apartment. Ever since the first time it rained while we were living on our own, we’ve been dealing with leaks here and there in our office. There was even an incident when I noticed a leak above my computer desk right before we were about to leave for a meeting. If we had left just a few minutes sooner, my keyboard might have been soaked by the time we returned home and that would have been a whole other problem.

Ambassadors of Action: Daniel Quinones and Melissa Leslie - Fine Artists And Magazine Publishers

Our Voice Kytia continues her interview series here on WitnessLA called “Ambassadors of Action.” As Christians, we are representations of Christ’s love here on this earth and we are called to be His ambassadors. “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.” (2 Corinthians 5:20)

Each of the interviews in this series is meant to highlight how children of God are living as examples and are actively sharing their beliefs with the world (at home, in the workplace, through blogs, etc.). “Ambassadors of Action” are your everyday brothers and sisters in Christ, making a difference in an unconventional way.

In this next interview in the series, Kytia interviews fine artists Daniel Quinones and Melissa Leslie, the founders of MLoveizm Magazine, on redefining what it means to be a Christian in the secular art world and how the obstacles they faced inspired them to start a community for Christian artists and arts fans through their online magazine.

Learning to Speak

Our voice Kytia shares how she uses her gifts to glorify God, and how she stayed true to herself and her commitment to God.  Sometimes God has a plan to use us to help others, and this is the story of how Kytia came to realize what God was trying to do for her and for the people in her life.

Recently, a few people have commented on how they most appreciate my singing above my other gifts. I’d have to say that falls pretty low on my list of favorite comments. The reason being that it exposes who I am. My voice is ME. I can’t hide behind a camera, layers of makeup, a fictional character, my fears…or silence.

Acting Like a Christian

We’re so blessed to welcome Kytia as the newest Voice in our WitnessLA Family.  Kytia, originally from Hawaii, is a beautiful and talented actress, model and writer with a huge heart for the Lord and a calling for Hollywood.  In this powerful testimony, Kytia shares about her struggles with beauty, identity, and staying true to the Lord in the challenging and competitive entertainment industry.

Being beautiful on the outside isn’t something I’m always striving to be, but knowing that I’m exuding beauty from within is very important to me. Unfortunately, it’s taken me a while to know who I truly am and to accept that person. Before my relationship with God, I struggled to feel beautiful and that’s one of the reasons my mom enrolled me in modeling classes when I was 15 years young. I didn’t know this at the time, but it was her way of boosting my self esteem and helping me to accept my femininity.

Confirmation Station

Hello! I’m Kytia L’amour and I absolutely LOVE stories about how God answers prayers in mind blowing ways. The following are a few examples I have to share with you about that very subject:

Being a Christian, I choose to go the way God leads me and seek His advice when it comes to making major and minor decisions in my life. Confirmation is a way He lets me know I’m on the right path. For those of you who are unfamiliar with that term, it’s when God shows or tells you something more than once that directly relates to something you are going through. An example would be if you feel you are struggling with anger in your life, and you hear a scripture pertaining to that subject at church, on the radio, AND from a friend during a short period of time - that’s confirmation. This is a tool that I’ve become familiar with ever since my FIRST confirmation experience.
