Broken Knee Healed on Skid Row

God remembers those we have forgotten. Will you follow when He calls you to love the unlovable? Our friend Arielle came all the way from Singapore to be a missionary here in downtown LA’s Skid Row and shares an amazing testimony of healing and love in a place we so often ignore.
I was a volunteer with a church group that hits Skid Row regularly. We feed them, befriend them, pray with them & simply make ourselves available for God to touch them.
On a typical morning on 27th May 2011, when we were walking around telling people about free food, my friends spotted a lady (let’s call her T) limping along the streets. T was knocked down by a car a month ago & broke her right knee. Her surgery was in fact due the next day but was still open to us praying for her…[click “Read More” below to continue]All 4 of us locked hands & formed a circle to pray. As my friend led in prayers, I felt prompted to knee down, put my hand over her injured knee & pray in the spirit softly with my eyes open. Little did I expect that I would have the privilege to not just See, but also Hear & Feel, a Huge miracle that was coming.
Soon after praying, my hand started to shake & so did her entire right leg. As I took a peep, T’s eyes were still closed, other parts of her body were still but only her right leg was convulsing. I then began to hear what sounded like bone-cracking noises and felt movements under the skin of her knee cap! I must confess that I was taken aback or even disturbed by these reactions then but deep down, I knew that we are not to quench the workings of the Holy Spirit.
In the midst of all these, T began to slowly put weight on her right foot & could balance her weight equally on both feet. After we stopped praying, she was skipping & dancing with joy cause the pain was all gone & she could walk totally fine! She was so contented with the healing that she canceled her surgery, planned for an Xray with her doctor to validate the healing & told her friends in Skid Row that Jesus Christ has healed her ;)
In the next 2 weeks, I got to meet T a few more times. Her right leg looked absolutely normal & she felt great too! She could even ran across the street to come & give us a hug. How wonderful it is that God healed her, kept her healing and gave us reassurances of the work that He has done.
I was & still am blown away by this experience. What I love too besides the healing are the Place & Settings of this miracle - how raw & how randomly powerful they were. God showed up & did great things amongst the so-called social outcasts, in the heart of the dirtiest & smelliest streets in L.A – nothing fanciful, nothing glamourous, nothing spectacular.
But Christ is The One who turns the seemingly unlovely & hopeless to a sweet outcome. He Loves, Heals & Pursues His children everywhere!
Matthew 11:5 - The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.
