God Planned Us To Be Friends

Have you ever felt like a friend or someone you met was literally a Godsend in your life?  Our friend Sarah Weichhand shares the amazing story of how two total strangers somehow crossed paths, became the closest of friends, and were ultimately able to bless each other’s lives, all according to God’s plan.

I was standing in the coffee shop just ready to sit down at my already covered table when I saw her from across the room! I often stopped in coffee shops just to relax and spend time reading and talking with the Lord-pen and journal in hand. This particular time, just as I was about to sit down, I noticed this smiling girl with her arms full standing at the opposite end of the coffee shop. She was just brilliantly glowing with joy and smiling from the other side. Hmmm.

Something told me she was not just an ordinary girl. As I saw her there, I felt prompted by the Lord to invite her to my table. From across the room, I motioned her over, “Hey-do you want to come sit over here and talk with me?!!” I smiled to myself. (Stranger things have definitely occurred-but inviting a stranger for coffee, at the time, was a new one for me!)  As I motioned to this stranger, she came quickly over and introduced herself. She said her name was Nancy and I told her I felt strongly to invite her to sit with me. I had no idea why.

As we talked, I found out that we had SO MUCH in common! We talked for HOURS-realizing that this was no ordinary meeting, but a divinely orchestrated blessing from heaven.

As Nancy talked, I thought-this is incredible! What the Lord had put in our hearts for this generation, for hurting women, and for our own lives and ministries was almost exactly the same! We had many common experiences and even in our differences, we could somehow relate!

It turns out that months earlier Nancy had had a dream about a friend named Sarah (which happens to be my name) who was standing behind a table filled with delicious foods and was feeding her strawberries…[click “Read More” below to continue]

In the dream, the friend was telling her that she would be able to eat these things again. In real life, I was working as a health counselor, anointed for healing, and teaching people how to live well and eat in ways that were conducive to their holistic health.

In another dream, this same new friend Sarah (whom she had still never met yet in real life) was standing behind a table selling t-shirts that had trees of life on them. In real life, I had started a t-shirt company that sold t-shirts with empowering messages for women, raising awareness on women’s issues and bringing life and hope to those who bought them.

Nancy had been going through intense health struggles and couldn’t eat much of anything. Her body was rejecting foods because of fear, stress, and severe allergies to almost everything. Before she told me the dreams, I told her that I understood because of some similar things I went through and that God would heal her. I also told her I could help her learn to eat foods that her body would not reject while she was in the healing process. While we were talking, I saw a visual
picture of a table set before her with every good kind of food and that God was telling me she WOULD be able to eat again!

Through these dreams, God was revealing to her before she met me in real life that there would be a significant friend named Sarah who would not only have these things in common with her, but would also be able to help her in these very specific areas in her time of need.

As Nancy and I got to know each other-meeting in that same coffee shop over and over in the weeks to come, we found more and more what we had in common. We ended up starting a discipleship ministry with women in the city sharing with them the gifts of healing, deliverance, prayers and love that God had been demonstrating in our own lives. We often would take the women out in the streets and into local hangouts-wherever the Lord led and we would see powerful healings and deliverances from oppression right on the spot-in bars and parks, etc. Both Nancy and I had walked through many kinds of physical and emotional pain. We knew God wanted to heal other women as well and minister to them as whole people.

Shortly after our first meeting, Nancy started receiving calls from a guy who I knew might eventually become her husband. Sure enough, less than a couple years later, they were married and I got to have a very special role in their relationship. I got to be the maid of honor in their wedding! Now both Nancy and Paul are two of my closest friends.

Both Nancy and I knew what it is like to need healing, deliverance from oppression, and to want to use our spiritual and natural gifts in lifegiving ways.

Years later, God is continuing to unite us-though coast to coast. Two strangers who met in a coffee shop-yet God ordained! I continue to be involved with coaching and health counseling. I still have the original company that started selling the t-shirts. This week I found out Nancy is getting trained as a Naturopathic Practicioner so she can also work with men and women in a similar way! She is anointed for healing as well!

Many times Nancy will call from across the country with an encouragement or prophetic prayer that will really encourage me! Her friendship has blessed my life in incredible ways! Who knew God would so divinely and perfectly add so much to our lives by having two young women meet from across the room in a coffee shop? At one point, God revealed to us that our friendship would be like Jonathan and David in the Bible-that we would have a commitment to friendship at this level for God-ordained purposes for the rest of our lives.

I thank God everyday for His divinely arranged circumstances and for going out of His way to arrange this friendship and confirm it with the great blessings of His love.

Some friendships are created for divinely arranged purposes! In this case, I believe this friendship will be lifelong and will probably extend through the lives of our children. I praise God for the joys I have found in this friendship and for the many blessings of fruitfulness and favor we have found along the way. He is a God who
restores, provides, and heals! I guess along with that, you may never know what a day may bring!

Sincerely,
Sarah Weichhand
