You’ve got a friend. In the sky.

Our foreign correspondent, Alex shares his adventure to pursue His Voice. We follow his story across the globe all the way to London.
How does God speak to you? I was really frustrated because for the longest time I felt that all my brothers in Christ hear Him so much better than me – but I hear nothing. Until recently I learned that He speaks to me exactly how I need can to hear Him.
I recently transferred to London for work – doing the job I’ve been dreaming of since I was young. Before I left LA, I prayed that I would not leave unless I knew for a fact that God will be with me EVERY single step of the way. No way would I want to move half-way across the globe against His will.
I feel like I’m drinking from a fire hose every week. For example last week was rough in terms of business and personal life – very busy and was feeling like I was taking a huge beating and seeing no hope. On top of that, I had a huge meeting which came out from nowhere on Friday and I had no idea how to handle it: I had to get people on another continent to participate remotely at 2am their time. It was 7pm on Thursday night - I had already done all I could to prepare– there was no way I could be ready by next morning. Feeling completely and totally overwhelmed all I could think of was that I need to just surrender it all to God. And I did – literally. My prayer was,
“Here it is Lord – take it all. I have no idea what to do. I pray that somehow you will help me be excellent.”

Then, I got back to my laptop, I got my presentation ready, prayed again and hit the sack to get some rest before next morning.
When I woke up I checked my blackberry and low and behold, not 1 expert, but 3 have accepted to join remotely at 2am and 5am (their local times) to support me. (2am!!) Feeling completely encouraged and pumped that God answers prayers, I put my suit on and took off. I had a 15 -min -walk to the Tube and I do this quite often: I just started walking and praising and praying that God will continue to support me throughout the day. And boy, did He!
Had my meeting, nailed my presentation in person – my experts came through in the middle of the night remotely and the rest of the day was just God literally turning EVERY single event that I thought went bad over the week around. Every.single.one. Personal, professional, He took care of it. He is GOOD.
Right – so in terms of how do I hear from him. Well – that evening I was heading out to have dinner with my uncle who lives on the other side of town – had to change 2 Tube lines. I was at Green Park station and there’s a long walk from one line to another– about 10 minutes. As soon as I stepped out of my first train all I could feel is REALLY encouraged by the Holy Spirit – as I kept walking I heard a song being played (It’s quite common that there are musicians in the passage ways that play) but the guy was kinda out of my way – and somehow I felt compelled to stop by him and give him some change. When I walked over all I could hear was ONE line of his song that he kept singing over and over “You’ve got a friend! In the sky”. Hahaha! Awesome! That entire day was a testimony that I do. This was just putting it in words. Praise God!
So how do I hear from God – well 2 ways – ONE: He answers prayers. (bear in mind it’s not always yes, but sometimes it’s “be patient and trust in Me”). And TWO: He gets through to my thick soul with really crisp and tangible events.
Guys – HE is SO good!
